HURON PROJECTS

Cambridge, MA

My second day at America Dural I was brought to a site conveniently located down the street from my new office. It was well under construction by then, the walls were mostly framed up. There I met the contractor, developer, and the rest of my team that I would be working with for the remainder of the project.

The two condo units, 173 & 177, now stand in the place of what once was an old funeral home. After coordinating with the city, America Dural, Broder, and Gail Roberts & her team were able to re-zone the plot as two residential units, LEED certified.

Though I wasn’t involved in the beginning stages of the new construction, I quickly became involved in coordinating the final stages of the projects. After revising and drawing the remaining plans (lighting/electrical/finished floor…) I coordinated the door and cabinet hardware, the crown & baseboards, the lighting fixture schedule, etc. I was able to so confidently jump into this project because of the people who I was working with; the general contractor, the building developer, and the real estate agent all maintained fantastic communication with me at AD. Not only that, I was able to develop relationships with local manufacturing companies like the millwork representative, the lighting company, and the plumbing reps, etc.

Of course, I quickly learned that the project isn’t done after is its “done”. After doing the drawings and the schedules and such, inevitably things came up during and after construction. Nothing detrimental, so they were easily addressed. A metal railing here, replaced hardware there, a sheet of veneer on this, removable panels on that.

As with all Projects I have been a part of, I was honored to work on these incredible homes
